Description
LBETAL-100 contains Labetalol Tablets IP 100 mg in tablet form. Labetalol is an antihypertensive medicine that blocks both alpha-1 and beta-adrenergic receptors, helping relax blood vessels and reduce the workload on the heart. Uses of LBETAL-100
LBETAL-100 may be prescribed as part of an individualized treatment plan for:
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Blood pressure management requiring combined alpha- and beta-blocking activity
- Long-term antihypertensive therapy when labetalol is considered appropriate
- Blood pressure control in selected clinical situations under medical supervision
Labetalol can also have specific clinical uses in pregnancy-related hypertension under appropriate medical supervision. The choice of treatment depends on the patient’s condition, blood pressure level, medical history and clinical requirements.
Key Benefits of LBETAL-100
- Dual Adrenergic Action: Blocks both alpha-1 and beta receptors to help lower blood pressure.
- Supports Blood Pressure Control: Helps reduce elevated blood pressure when used as prescribed.
- Reduces Vascular Resistance: Alpha-1 blockade promotes relaxation of blood vessels.
- Helps Reduce Cardiac Workload: Beta blockade can reduce heart rate and cardiac workload.
- 100 mg Strength: Provides Labetalol 100 mg in a convenient oral tablet.
- Convenient Oral Formulation: Supplied as tablets for administration according to the prescribed regimen.
How LBETAL-100 Works
Labetalol has a combined mechanism of action. It blocks alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, which causes blood vessels to relax and reduces peripheral vascular resistance.
At the same time, labetalol blocks beta-adrenergic receptors. This action can reduce the effects of adrenaline and noradrenaline on the heart, helping control heart rate and cardiac workload.
Through these complementary effects, labetalol lowers blood pressure while helping maintain an appropriate balance between vascular relaxation and cardiac activity.
Common Side Effects of LBETAL-100
Some people may experience side effects while taking labetalol. Possible effects include:
- Dizziness
- Tiredness or fatigue
- Nausea
- Headache
- Stomach discomfort
- Low blood pressure
- Slow heart rate
- Nasal congestion
- Difficulty sleeping
- Tingling or coldness in the hands or feet
Dizziness may occur more readily when treatment begins or when the dose changes. Standing up slowly can help reduce symptoms related to a sudden drop in blood pressure.
Seek medical attention if you experience fainting, severe breathing difficulty, very slow heartbeat, swelling or other serious symptoms.
Important Safety Information
Use LBETAL-100 only according to the advice of a qualified healthcare professional.
- Labetalol can lower blood pressure and heart rate. Monitor for dizziness, light-headedness or fainting, particularly when starting treatment or increasing the dose.
- Do not stop labetalol suddenly without medical advice. Abrupt withdrawal of beta-blocking therapy can cause clinically significant cardiovascular effects.
- Tell your doctor if you have asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), slow heart rate, heart block, heart failure, low blood pressure or other cardiovascular conditions.
- Labetalol can affect blood glucose responses and may mask some warning signs of hypoglycaemia, particularly in people using insulin or other glucose-lowering medicines.
- Tell your healthcare professional if you have diabetes before starting treatment.
- Inform your doctor if you have liver disease. Rare but serious liver injury has been reported with labetalol.
- Labetalol may cause postural hypotension, particularly following initial doses or dose increases. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel dizzy or light-headed.
- Tell your healthcare professional about all medicines you take, including other blood-pressure medicines, medicines affecting heart rhythm, antidepressants and diabetes medicines.
- If you are scheduled for surgery, tell your anaesthetist or healthcare professional that you are taking labetalol.
- Discuss pregnancy and breastfeeding with your healthcare professional. Labetalol may be used in certain pregnancy-related hypertension settings under medical supervision.
- Seek urgent medical attention for severe breathing difficulty, fainting, signs of serious allergic reaction or symptoms suggesting significant liver injury.

Dosage & Administration
Take LBETAL-100 exactly as prescribed by your healthcare professional.
The appropriate dose depends on the severity of hypertension, the patient’s response, other medicines being used and the overall clinical condition. Labetalol tablets are commonly administered in divided doses, with the exact regimen determined by the prescribing healthcare professional.
The dose may be adjusted gradually according to blood pressure response and tolerability. Do not increase, reduce or discontinue the medicine without medical advice.
Take the tablet with water and follow the prescribed schedule. If a dose is missed, follow your healthcare professional’s instructions rather than taking an additional dose without advice.
Because labetalol can cause dizziness or postural hypotension, take appropriate care when standing up, especially during the early stages of treatment.
