How AVSTN-10 Works
Atorvastatin belongs to the statin class and inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme involved in cholesterol production in the liver.
By reducing cholesterol synthesis, atorvastatin increases the liver’s uptake of LDL cholesterol from the blood. This helps lower circulating LDL cholesterol and can also improve other lipid parameters.
The resulting lipid-lowering effect can support cardiovascular risk management in patients for whom statin therapy is appropriate.

Important Safety Information
Use AVSTN-10 only according to the advice of a qualified healthcare professional.
Liver-Related Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease, a history of abnormal liver tests or regularly consume large amounts of alcohol. Healthcare professionals may assess liver function when clinically appropriate.
Seek medical advice if you develop unusual tiredness, loss of appetite, upper abdominal discomfort or yellowing of the skin or eyes.
Muscle-Related Precautions
Atorvastatin can rarely cause serious muscle problems. Contact your healthcare professional if you develop unexplained or persistent muscle pain, tenderness, weakness or dark-coloured urine. Severe muscle symptoms require prompt medical assessment.
Medicine Interactions
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines, vitamins and supplements you use. Some medicines can increase atorvastatin exposure and may raise the risk of adverse effects. Important examples include certain antibiotics, antifungal medicines, antiviral medicines, fibrates, ciclosporin, colchicine and some cardiovascular medicines.
Excessive grapefruit or grapefruit juice may also increase atorvastatin exposure.
Pregnancy and Other Precautions
Tell your healthcare professional if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. Atorvastatin is generally not recommended during pregnancy.
Do not change the dose or stop long-term treatment without medical advice. Continue appropriate dietary and lifestyle measures as recommended by your healthcare professional.
For additional prescribing and safety information, refer to the DailyMed Atorvastatin Calcium prescribing information.
Dosage & Administration
Take AVSTN-10 exactly as prescribed by your healthcare professional.
Atorvastatin is generally taken once daily, at any time of day, with or without food. The appropriate dose depends on the patient’s cholesterol levels, cardiovascular risk, treatment response, medical history and other medicines. Current prescribing information lists 10 mg to 80 mg once daily as the adult dosage range for atorvastatin, with treatment adjusted according to clinical response.
Do not increase or decrease the dose without medical advice.
If you miss a dose, follow the instructions provided with your prescription rather than taking an additional dose to compensate.
