How TELHEX-80 Works
Telmisartan works as an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It blocks angiotensin II from attaching to AT1 receptors.
Normally, angiotensin II can narrow blood vessels and raise blood pressure. By blocking this action, telmisartan helps the blood vessels relax. As a result, blood pressure can decrease.
In addition, telmisartan may continue to lower blood pressure as treatment progresses. Most of its blood-pressure effect appears within about two weeks, while the maximum reduction generally occurs within four weeks.
Common Side Effects of TELHEX-80
Some people may experience side effects while taking telmisartan. These may include:
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Diarrhoea
- Back pain
- Fatigue
- Low blood pressure
- Upper respiratory symptoms
However, not everyone experiences these effects. Dizziness or low blood pressure may occur more easily when a person has dehydration or low salt levels.
Contact your healthcare professional if any side effect continues, becomes severe or causes concern.
