Side effects are uncommon when taken as advised. Too much vitamin D can raise calcium levels in the blood and cause:

• Avoid taking other vitamin D or calcium supplements at the same time unless your doctor agrees.

• Tell your doctor about all your medicines, especially thiazide diuretics, digoxin, anticonvulsants such as phenytoin, corticosteroids, orlistat and cholestyramine.
• Your doctor may check your blood calcium and vitamin D levels during long treatment.
