Description

ROSUVST-ASP contains Rosuvastatin 10 mg and Aspirin 75 mg in capsule form. This combination brings together a statin for lipid management and a low-dose antiplatelet medicine. Rosuvastatin helps lower LDL cholesterol, while Aspirin reduces platelet aggregation. Therefore, healthcare professionals may prescribe this type of combination for selected patients as part of an individualized cardiovascular risk-management plan.

Uses of ROSUVST-ASP

ROSUVST-ASP may be prescribed for selected patients who require both lipid-lowering and antiplatelet therapy.

Depending on the patient’s cardiovascular condition, healthcare professionals may consider this combination for:

  • Cardiovascular risk management
  • Management of elevated LDL cholesterol
  • Patients requiring Rosuvastatin for lipid control
  • Patients requiring low-dose Aspirin as part of an antiplatelet treatment plan
  • Selected secondary-prevention strategies following established cardiovascular disease
  • Patients for whom the prescribing physician considers combined statin and antiplatelet therapy appropriate

The exact indication depends on the patient’s cardiovascular history, cholesterol levels, bleeding risk, other medicines and clinical assessment. ROSUVST-ASP should therefore be used only according to a healthcare professional’s prescription.

Key Benefits of ROSUVST-ASP

  • Lipid Management: Rosuvastatin helps reduce LDL cholesterol and supports management of abnormal lipid levels.
  • Antiplatelet Action: Low-dose Aspirin reduces platelet aggregation and can be used in appropriate cardiovascular treatment plans.
  • Dual-Component Formulation: Combines lipid-lowering and antiplatelet therapy in one capsule.
  • Cardiovascular Risk Management: May form part of an individualized treatment strategy for selected patients.
  • Convenient Oral Formulation: Supplied as capsules for oral administration.
  • ALU-ALU Packaging: Supplied in 10 × 10 ALU-ALU packaging.

How ROSUVST-ASP Works

Rosuvastatin belongs to the statin class. It inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme involved in cholesterol production in the liver. As a result, the liver increases LDL receptor activity and removes more LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream. Rosuvastatin is therefore used to help control cholesterol levels and reduce cardiovascular risk in appropriate patients.

Aspirin works differently. At low doses used for cardiovascular purposes, it inhibits platelet cyclooxygenase activity and reduces thromboxane production. This decreases platelet activation and aggregation, helping reduce the formation of certain arterial blood clots.

Together, the two active ingredients address different aspects of cardiovascular risk. However, Aspirin also increases the risk of bleeding, so the combination requires appropriate medical supervision.

Common Side Effects of ROSUVST-ASP

Side effects may occur due to either active ingredient. Possible effects include:

  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Indigestion
  • Stomach discomfort
  • Constipation or diarrhoea
  • Easy bruising
  • Nosebleeds
  • Muscle aches
  • Weakness

Rosuvastatin can cause muscle-related adverse effects in some patients, while Aspirin can irritate the gastrointestinal tract and increase the risk of bleeding.

Seek medical attention if you develop severe muscle pain or weakness, black stools, vomiting blood, unusual or persistent bleeding, severe abdominal pain or other serious symptoms.

Important Safety Information

Use ROSUVST-ASP only under the direction of a qualified healthcare professional.

  • Do not start, stop or change the dose without medical advice.
  • Aspirin can increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and should be used cautiously in patients with a history of stomach ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a bleeding disorder, active ulcer, liver disease, kidney disease or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • Inform your healthcare professional before surgery, dental procedures or other invasive procedures because Aspirin can affect platelet function.
  • Do not take additional Aspirin or other antiplatelet medicines unless specifically recommended.
  • Avoid taking additional NSAID painkillers without discussing them with your doctor because they may increase gastrointestinal and bleeding risks.
  • Tell your doctor about anticoagulants, corticosteroids and other medicines that may increase bleeding risk.
  • Rosuvastatin can rarely cause significant muscle injury. Report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, particularly if symptoms are severe or persistent.
  • Your healthcare professional may monitor liver function when clinically appropriate during Rosuvastatin treatment.
  • Tell your doctor about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and supplements you take.
  • Rosuvastatin should not be used during pregnancy because cholesterol-lowering treatment with statins is generally contraindicated during pregnancy. Discuss pregnancy or plans for pregnancy with your healthcare professional.
  • Seek urgent medical attention for severe or uncontrolled bleeding, vomiting blood, black stools, sudden severe headache, severe weakness or other serious symptoms.
