Description

CENFINE-M contains Mometasone Furoate 0.1% and Terbinafine Hydrochloride 1.0% in topical cream form. This combination brings together a topical corticosteroid with an antifungal medicine. Terbinafine helps control susceptible fungal infections, while Mometasone Furoate helps reduce associated inflammation, redness and itching when corticosteroid treatment is clinically appropriate.

CENFINE-M is intended for external use on the skin and should be used according to the advice of a healthcare professional. It is supplied in a convenient 30 GM pack.

Uses of CENFINE-M

CENFINE-M may be prescribed for selected fungal skin infections when inflammation, itching or redness also requires short-term corticosteroid treatment.

Depending on the diagnosis, it may be considered for:

  • Selected superficial fungal skin infections with inflammatory symptoms
  • Fungal infections associated with itching and redness
  • Localized dermatological conditions where an antifungal and topical corticosteroid are both clinically appropriate
  • Skin inflammation associated with susceptible fungal infections
  • Short-term management of inflammatory symptoms accompanying certain fungal skin conditions

The exact indication depends on the type of infection, severity, affected body area and clinical assessment.

CENFINE-M should not be used automatically for every itchy or red rash. Several skin conditions can produce similar symptoms, while inappropriate corticosteroid use can worsen or mask some infections.

Key Benefits of CENFINE-M

  • Antifungal action: Terbinafine Hydrochloride helps control susceptible fungi responsible for superficial skin infections.
  • Inflammation relief: Mometasone Furoate helps reduce inflammatory skin responses.
  • Helps relieve itching and redness: The corticosteroid component can reduce inflammatory symptoms when appropriate.
  • Dual-action formulation: Combines antifungal and anti-inflammatory activity in one topical cream.
  • Convenient topical application: Designed for direct application to affected areas of the skin.
  • 30 GM pack: Convenient pack size for topical treatment as directed.

How CENFINE-M Works

Each ingredient works through a different mechanism.

Terbinafine Hydrochloride is an allylamine antifungal medicine. It inhibits squalene epoxidase, an enzyme involved in fungal cell-membrane synthesis. This interferes with the production of ergosterol and causes accumulation of squalene within susceptible fungal cells, helping eliminate the fungus.

Mometasone Furoate is a topical corticosteroid. It reduces inflammatory activity in the skin and helps decrease symptoms such as redness, swelling and itching.

Together, these ingredients can address fungal infection and associated inflammation when a combination formulation is clinically justified.

Common Side Effects of CENFINE-M

Some people may experience local skin reactions after applying CENFINE-M. Possible effects include:

  • Mild burning or stinging
  • Itching
  • Irritation
  • Dryness
  • Redness
  • Tingling
  • Skin discomfort

Mometasone, like other topical corticosteroids, can cause additional skin effects when used for prolonged periods, over large areas or under occlusive dressings. These may include:

  • Skin thinning
  • Stretch marks
  • Changes in skin pigmentation
  • Visible small blood vessels
  • Increased susceptibility to local infection
  • Delayed wound healing

Stop using the cream and seek medical advice if you develop significant irritation, swelling, blistering, worsening infection or symptoms of an allergic reaction.

Important Safety Information

Use CENFINE-M only according to the directions of a qualified healthcare professional.

  • For external use only. Do not swallow.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and other mucous membranes.
  • Do not apply the cream to open wounds or severely damaged skin unless specifically advised.
  • Do not use CENFINE-M for prolonged periods without medical supervision.
  • Topical corticosteroids can worsen, spread or mask certain fungal and other infections when used inappropriately.
  • Avoid using the cream on an undiagnosed skin rash simply because it is itchy or red.
  • Do not cover the treated area with airtight or occlusive dressings unless your healthcare professional specifically recommends this.
  • Avoid applying the product to large areas of the body unless directed by a healthcare professional.
  • Use particular caution on the face, groin and skin folds because corticosteroid-related adverse effects may occur more readily in these areas.
  • Avoid prolonged use on sensitive areas unless specifically prescribed.
  • Children may be more susceptible to corticosteroid-related adverse effects, so pediatric use should follow professional advice.
  • Tell your doctor if the infection spreads, becomes worse or does not improve during treatment.
  • Inform your healthcare professional about other topical or oral medicines you are using.
  • Do not continue treatment longer than recommended simply because itching or redness remains.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare professional before using the cream.
  • Keep CENFINE-M out of reach of children.

For additional information about topical corticosteroid use and precautions, refer to the NHS guidance on topical corticosteroids.

Dosage & Administration

Apply CENFINE-M exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.

Clean and dry the affected area before application unless otherwise instructed. Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected skin and gently spread it over the affected area.

The frequency and duration of treatment depend on the diagnosis, severity of infection, affected body area and response to treatment. Do not apply larger quantities or use the cream more frequently than recommended.

Wash your hands before and after application unless the treated area itself is the hands.

Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes. If accidental contact with the eyes occurs, rinse thoroughly with clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.

Do not use an occlusive dressing over the treated area unless specifically instructed by your healthcare professional.

If the condition does not improve, becomes worse or spreads during treatment, consult a healthcare professional rather than continuing the cream without reassessment.

  • Store CENFINE-M in a cool, dry place.
  • Protect the cream from excessive heat and direct sunlight.

  • Store in the original packaging.
