Dosage & Administration

Atorvastatin is generally taken once daily, with or without food. The appropriate dose depends on the patient’s cholesterol levels, cardiovascular risk, treatment goals, response to therapy and other medicines.

Current prescribing information lists an adult dosage range of 10 mg to 80 mg once daily. A 40 mg dose may be selected for patients who require a substantial reduction in LDL cholesterol.
