Description

Esoxn DSR Capsules are an Esomeprazole and Domperidone combination used for the management of acid reflux, heartburn and related stomach symptoms under medical supervision. Each hard gelatin capsule contains Esomeprazole Magnesium Trihydrate IP equivalent to Esomeprazole 40 mg (as enteric coated pellets) and Domperidone IP 30 mg (as sustained release pellets), supplied in a 10 × 10 blister pack.

How Esoxn DSR Capsules Work

Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor. It blocks the acid pumps in the stomach lining, which lowers the amount of acid the stomach makes. Domperidone is a prokinetic. It helps food move out of the stomach more quickly and reduces nausea. Together they help relieve both the acid and the movement-related symptoms of reflux.

• Dry mouth
• Abdominal pain or discomfort
• Diarrhoea or constipation
• Nausea or flatulence
• Dizziness
• Breast tenderness or milk discharge (rare, from domperidone)
• Skin rash or itching

Stop the medicine and contact a doctor straight away if you notice a fast, pounding or irregular heartbeat, fainting, chest pain, severe or persistent diarrhoea, black or bloody stools, difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, swelling of the face or lips, or difficulty breathing.

Important Safety Information

• Take Esoxn DSR Capsules only as prescribed. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time needed.
• Do not use if you are allergic to esomeprazole, domperidone, other proton pump inhibitors or any ingredient in the capsule.
• Domperidone can affect heart rhythm (QT prolongation). Do not use without medical advice if you have heart disease, a heart rhythm problem or low potassium or magnesium levels.
• Do not use if you have bleeding, blockage or perforation in the stomach or intestine, a prolactin-secreting pituitary tumour, or moderate to severe liver disease.
• Do not take with medicines that affect heart rhythm or strongly block liver enzymes, such as ketoconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin or fluconazole, unless your doctor advises.
• See a doctor first if you have difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools or unexplained weight loss. These can be signs of a serious condition.
• Long-term use of acid-reducing medicines may lower magnesium and vitamin B12 levels and raise the risk of bone fractures and some infections. Your doctor may arrange check-ups if you use it for a long time.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Tell your doctor about all your medicines, especially clopidogrel, warfarin, diazepam, phenytoin, methotrexate, digoxin and antifungals.
• Keep out of reach of children.

Dosage & Administration

Take Esoxn DSR Capsules exactly as directed by your doctor. It is usually taken once a day, at least 30 minutes before a meal, with a glass of water. Swallow the capsule whole. Do not crush, chew or open it, as this damages the coated pellets. Do not exceed the prescribed dose or duration. Domperidone is generally used for the shortest time possible.

Storage

• Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C.
• Protect from light and moisture.
• Keep in the original blister pack.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack.
