How Defxn 6 Tablets Work

Deflazacort is a glucocorticoid. In the body it is converted into its active form, which reduces the release of substances that cause inflammation and dampens the activity of the immune system. This helps relieve swelling, pain and allergic symptoms in conditions where inflammation or immune activity is excessive.

  • Trouble sleeping
  • Mood changes or restlessness

Contact a doctor straight away if you notice black or bloody stools, severe stomach pain, signs of infection (fever, sore throat, persistent cough), vision changes or eye pain, severe mood changes or depression, severe muscle weakness, swelling of the face or lips, or difficulty breathing.

Important Safety Information

  • Take Defxn 6 Tablets only as prescribed. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time needed.
  • Do not stop the medicine suddenly after long-term use. Your doctor will reduce the dose gradually.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to deflazacort or any other ingredient in the tablet.
  • Steroids can hide or worsen infections. Tell your doctor about any infection, including tuberculosis, chickenpox, measles or herpes, and about recent contact with these illnesses.
  • Do not receive live vaccines while taking this medicine unless your doctor advises.
  • Use with caution, and only on medical advice, if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart failure, osteoporosis, stomach ulcers, kidney or liver disease, glaucoma, cataracts, epilepsy or a mental health condition.
  • Long-term use can slow growth in children, weaken bones, raise eye pressure and affect the body’s natural steroid production. Regular check-ups may be needed.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor about all your medicines, especially rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, ketoconazole, erythromycin, blood thinners such as warfarin, NSAIDs, diabetes medicines and diuretics.
